Shelby's Top Ten

I learned lots of things on this trip. Here are 10 of the coolest things I learned.

  1. I learned about the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
  2. I learned that when going from West Virginia to Alabama we traveled south.
  3. I learned that Alabama is closer to Mississippi than West Virginia.
  4. I learned that fire ants' hills are fat at the bottom.
  5. I learned how to spell ALABAMA.
  6. I learned that they make the laws at the capitals.
  7. I learned that Duncan Hines was from Kentucky and he liked many kinds of food.
  8. I learned that Martin Luther King Jr. did lots of marching in Alabama and I saw a picture of him.
  9. I learned that tornadoes happen more in the summertime and in flat lands.
  10. I learned how to spell MISSISSIPPI and some other words.

The Game

Eli and me went to the game. Daddy and Mommy and Uncle Jamie and Uncle John went to the ballgame too. It was cold and I fell asleep. Daddy had to carry me. Guess who carried Eli on his shoulders. It was Uncle Jamie. I got to see Pat White in his last football game.

The Palm Trees

When I was in Alabama when I was leaving the hotel I saw palm trees. I thought they were pretty. Palm trees grow in the south near the coast and sometimes on an island.

The Fire Ants

When we were at Alabama we saw a lot of hills of dirt and inside was fire ants. If you sit on a hill in the middle of nowhere, it might burn because the fire ants will get you. They are red.

Pat White

My daddy and my mommy and I went to Alabama and we was got to see Uncle Jamie and Eli and Uncle John. We all had adjoining rooms at the hotel. All of us went to a place to meet Pat White. He is my favorite player. I asked him to sign my Pat White jersey with a permanent marker. He did. I asked him, "Do I look like your little sister." He shook his head yes and smiled at me. I met some other players and the cheerleaders for the Washington Redskins. We are going to see a football game tomorrow.

Rosa Parks

We drove through Montgomery, Alabama today. I learned that somebody was leaving work and she was tired. She was on a bus and a white person got on and she had to sit in that seat but the black person didn't get up. The black person went to jail. This started the Montgomery Bus Boycott. That means they didn't ride the buses for a long time. The lady's name was Rosa Parks.

Then after Kentucky came Virginia.

We drove into Tennessee.

We drove through Georgia and I was asleep.

We found a hotel to sleep in and eat in. Tomorrow we are going to drive some more into Alabama.

What did Shelby do today?

What I did was sew a tic-tac-toe bag. It was pretty. I like tic-tac-toe.

My Time Capsule

Today Mommy and I went to Lowe's. I built a time capsule. My friend Brianna was there too. After I built my time capsule, I went to Aunt Tammie's house and played with Brianna.

Shelby's Snowman Melted

One day Shelby went outside and it was snowing. She built a snowman. One night it melted and in the morning it was gone.

Me and Jane are at the bus stop. We are going to see the Mountaineers.
